ADM, Burcon NutraScience Signs Letter Of Intent; ADM To Construct New Facility

Burcon NutraScience Corporation, Vancouver, B.C., Canada, has signed a letter of intent with Archer Daniels Midland (ADM), Decatur, IL, to enter into a licensing and development agreement to manufacture and market Puratein® and Supertein™ canola protein isolates utilizing Burcon’s patented extraction technology. The terms concerning a licensing and development agreement between ADM and Burcon include completing the development of a commercial process to produce Puratein and Supertein canola protein; developing commercial applications for the products; funding the construction of one or more full-scale commercial plants to produce the products and promoting, marketing and selling the products worldwide for all uses.

In other developments, ADM is constructing a soy processing facility in Shanhaiguan, China, in partnership with Singapore-based Wilmar Holdings. The facility will produce ADM’s exclusive Arcon® line of highly functional soy protein concentrates, specialty soy flour for soy sauce fermentation and whole edible soybeans. Wilmar Holdings is a leading processor, merchandiser and distributor of edible oils, oilseeds and related products in Asia and also sources and markets these products globally.
